Wake Forest tree lighting
The Lighting of Wake Forest will kick off the town’s holiday festivities at 6 p.m. Friday in Centennial Plaza in front of the town hall, 301 S. Brooks St. The event – which includes local choirs, free horse and carriage rides and free photos with Santa – culminates with the lighting of the town’s 30-foot Christmas tree.
Kitten and puppy art
Homeless Kittens & Puppies Paint for Their Supper is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the SPCA Adoption Center, 200 Petfinder Lane, Raleigh. Kittens and puppies create one-of-a-kind works and help raise money to benefit shelter animals. Prices are $12-$50. Warm cider, cookies will be provided. Historic Oakwood Candlelight Tour
Historic Oakwood will hold its 41st annual candlelight tours of homes from 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. This year’s tour features 13 historic homes and significant structures, festively decorated for the season. The annual tour benefits the Society for the Preservation of Historic Oakwood.
