Benefit dinner

Draft is holding a fundraising dinner for WakeMed Children’s hospital. Customers will be admitted to a buffet dinner with a donation of a new, unwrapped toy or $20. Jingle Ball

Craft bazaar

A Christmas craft bazaar is set for 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday in the Stewart Health Center at Springmoor Retirement Community, 1500 Sawmill Road, Raleigh. The bazaar will feature many craft items, as well as cookies, cakes, candy and jelly.

Wake Forest tree lighting

The Lighting of Wake Forest will kick off the town’s holiday festivities at 6 p.m. Friday in Centennial Plaza in front of the town hall, 301 S. Brooks St. The event – which includes local choirs, free horse and carriage rides and free photos with Santa – culminates with the lighting of the town’s 30-foot Christmas tree.

Kitten and puppy art

Homeless Kittens & Puppies Paint for Their Supper is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the SPCA Adoption Center, 200 Petfinder Lane, Raleigh. Kittens and puppies create one-of-a-kind works and help raise money to benefit shelter animals. Prices are $12-$50. Warm cider, cookies will be provided. Staff and volunteers will be available to answer questions about adoptable animals.

Oakwood Cemetery tours

Mordecai Open House

Mordecai House will hold an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday at 1 Mimosa St., Raleigh. The house will be decorated with period trimmings from Colonial to mid-20th century periods and docents will answer questions. Free, no registration necessary.

Historic Oakwood Candlelight Tour

Historic Oakwood will hold its 41st annual candlelight tours of homes from 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. This year’s tour features 13 historic homes and significant structures, festively decorated for the season. The annual tour benefits the Society for the Preservation of Historic Oakwood. Tickets are available in advance at HistoricOakwood.org and at select retail locations for $20 through Thursday. Tickets will be $30 the day of the event at The Oakwood Inn Bed & Breakfast.

Homemade Holidays

Rachael Ray to visit Meredith
