Thrift shop sale for AnimalKind

A 50 percent off sale is scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at ReTails Thrift Shop, 1608 N. Market Drive, Raleigh. Profits will help low-income pet owners to spay or neuter pets through AnimalKind. For more information about the group, call 919-872-0019 or go to www.animalkind.org. Donations of gently used items are accepted 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Volunteers are also needed; call to find out when the next orientation tour will be conducted.

First Night Raleigh

A grandparent/grandchild storytime on insects is scheduled from 10 to 1:45 a.m. Thursday at the Anne Gordon Center for Active Adults, 1901 Spring Forest Road, Raleigh, and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Five Points Center for Active Adults, 2000 Noble Road, Raleigh. Learn about our six-legged friends and take a walk outside to see live examples. Program is for ages 3 and up. Cost is $3 per participant. Registration is required four days in advance.
