Managing partner named at New York Life
Dale C. Berry has been named managing partner of the Raleigh General Office of New York Life Insurance Company.
Berry has worked at New York Life’s South Central Agencies Office for the past five years as corporate vice president. He is also a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.
Gallitano receives award from Audubon Society
The National Audubon Society has named Lena Gallitano of Raleigh as the recipient of the 2013 Atlantic Flyway William Dutcher Award. Gallitano was recognized for outstanding leadership in projects aimed at protecting and understanding birdlife.
Her past accomplishments include instigating the Carolina Birding Trail, which provides economic benefits through nature-based tourism. She has also been the recipient of Audubon North Carolina’s Volunteer of the Year award and the Governor’s Conservation Achievement Award for Wildlife Volunteer of the Year.
N.C. Science Museum
gets $100,000 grant
Biogen Idec Foundation has awarded a $100,000 grant to the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences for the development of innovative health science programming.
The grant will be used to help coordinators of the museum’s Micro World Investigate Lab develop a new interdisciplinary curriculum and cover transportation costs for students participating in the Investigate Lab programs.
to two nonprofits
The John Rex Endowment has awarded two grants to local companies to support nonprofit capacity building. Passage Home and Wake Education Partnership each received an $11,000 grant.
Both grants will be used to support organizational assessments of current capacities, during which key areas of an organization’s infrastructure are assessed.
