Siemens competition

The deadline to register for the 2013 Siemens Competition in Math, Science and Technology is 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30.

The competition provides budding high school scientists with scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $100,000 for original research in team and individual categories. Online registration is available at siemens.collegeboard.org. For more information, www.siemens-foundation.org.

ECPAI program

The Early Childhood Physical Activity Institute will be at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at Marbles Kids Museum, 201 E. Hargett St., Raleigh. The event will provide an extensive physical activity training experience to individuals working with child care providers, preschool teachers or others who interact with large groups of young children on a regular basis. Tickets cost $25 and can be purchased at 2013ecpai-zvents.eventbrite.com.

Scholarship available

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation has opened a new college scholarship for high-achieving, lower-income high school seniors seeking to attend the country’s best four-year colleges and universities. The scholarship will provide up to $30,000 for tuition, living expenses, books and required fees.
