Friday matchups

Cardinal Gibbons at Orange

Cardinal Gibbons looks to shake things up against an undefeated Orange team that is tied for first place in the Big Eight 3A conference.

Game time: 7 p.m.

Enloe at Broughton

Enloe and Broughton each seek their first win of the year. Broughton scored a season-high 35 points against Wakefield last week while Enloe was shut out at Sanderson.

Game time: 7 p.m.

Heritage at Wakefield

Wakefield looks to stay in the conference title conversation while hosting a Heritage team that has lost two straight contests. A Wolverines win would mean a two-way tie for the league’s top spot heading into the regular-season finale Nov. 8.

Game time: 7 p.m.

Leesville Road at Millbrook

Leesville Road knocked off one of the league’s top teams last week in Wake Forest and looks to do the same against Millbrook. The teams are part of a three-way tie with Wakefield for the conference’s top spot.

Game time: 7 p.m.

Sanderson at Wake Forest

Both teams enter this contest with 3-2 records in the Cap Eight. Sanderson has won two straight with a high-scoring offensive output. The Spartans hope to hold a Wake Forest team that is looking to rebound from its second loss of the year.

Game time: 7 p.m.

Coach speak

Clarence Inscore

Millbrook football coach

“We were able to make the last play of the night. Our defense has been carrying us this year, and the offense has been picking it up and playing better. … We knew Heritage is very dangerous. They came out and played us toe-to-toe.”
