Get to know him: Spanky’s previous owner brought him to the Onslow County Animal Shelter when he found out he was being deployed overseas. Spanky is about 7 years old and has a happy-go-lucky personality. Since he became part of the rescue, Spanky has been working on his waistline – he has dropped a few pounds and currently weighs about 45 pounds. He is good with other dogs and with children of all ages. When he approaches another dog on his walks he is gentle, kind and submissive. He is housebroken, crate-trained and knows how to sit and shake.

For more information: To learn more about Spanky and Triangle Beagle Rescue’s other dogs, email info@tribeagles.org or go to www.tribeagles.org. Adoption fees are $350 for puppies, $250 for adults or $150 for senior dogs and include all vet work. Potential adopters must fill out an application online and have a phone interview and a home visit. The group holds adoptathons monthly on the second Saturday at PetSmart, 3615 Witherspoon Blvd., Durham, and on the fourth Sunday at Animall in Cary Towne Center.
