Events at N.C. Museum of History

The N.C. Museum of History will host two events. History Corner: Do the Dabke! will run from 10 to 11 a.m. and will give children ages 6-9 (with adult) the chance to move around and dance while exploring the new exhibit “Cedars in the Pines” to learn about people who immigrated to N.C. from Lebanon. $1 per child. From 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., “History Hunters: What would you take?” will give children ages 10-13 the chance to explore the mentality of Lebanese immigrants preparing to move from Lebanon to N.C. $1 per child. Mind Mapping at North Regional Library

An Introduction to Mind Mapping will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. The program will teach participants how to be a more effective lifelong learner with mental techniques that expedite and reinforce information gathering and retention. Yoga class

A donations-requested yoga class will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Evolve Movement, 8470 Falls of Neuse Road, Raleigh. The session will feature adaptive yoga for all skill sets.

Storytime at N.C. Museum of History

A Book for That at North Regional Library

There’s a Book for That will take place from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. The program will focus on learning strategies for working with difficult people, dealing with negativity, resolving conflicts and advancing your career. Kim Harrison at Quail Ridge

Saturday

Events at N.C. Museum of History

Attendees ages 12 and up are invited to visit the museum from 10 a.m. to noon to hear about Tar Heel sports careers, past and present, from N.C. sports legends, then participate in a gallery hunt through the “N.C. Sports Hall of Fame” exhibit to test their sports knowledge. From 1 to 3 p.m., Make It, Take It will allow participants to visit the exhibit “Cedars in the Pines” exhibit and make a simple family tree.

Events at Quail Ridge

Quail Ridge Books & Music will host two authors Saturday. At 10:30 a.m., Annette Simon will present the sequel to her picture book “Robot Zombie Frankenstein,” “Robot Burp Head Smartypants.” At 11 a.m., Cara Black will present “Murder in Pigdale,” and be available to sign copies of the book. Comedy night

A comedy night will be held from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the Wake Forest Renaissance Center, 405 S. Brooks St., Wake Forest. Wake Forest Rotary Club and Wake Forest High School Band Boosters will present music, comics, and food for the evening, with Greg Fishel as the evening’s emcee. Barrowburn at N.C. Museum of History

Free yoga class

Yoga class

A donations-requested yoga class will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. at Long View Center, 118 S. Person St., Raleigh. The session will focus on gentle mat and chair adaptations. Participants are advised to bring a mat.
